【 The Best Conference Paper Award】 2023 IEEE 5th Eurasia Conference on IoT, Communication, and Engineering (ECICE)

In a commendable achievement, Professor Shuo-Yan Chou and his mentored student, Zakka Ugih Rizqi, Sia Seng Choonhave garnered recognition at the 2023 IEEE 5th Eurasia Conference on IoT, Communication, and Engineering (ECICE), where their presentation emerged as the recipient of the Best Paper Award. The conference, hosting over 200 papers, took place at the National Formosa University (NFU) in Yunlin, Taiwan, and centered on the research titled "The Performance of Dual Stacker Automated Storage and Retrieval System (AS/RS) with Double-Deep Configuration."

This research introduces an innovative design paradigm within the domain of Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS) known as the Dual Stacker AS/RS. Subsequently, a meticulously conducted simulation-based experiment was employed to assess the performance of the proposed system in comparison to the original AS/RS. Key metrics evaluated encompassed throughput rate, travel distance, response time, and system utilization.

Furthermore, the study elucidated the optimal configuration scenario for the Dual Stacker AS/RS, offering valuable insights for warehouse managers. In the rapidly evolving landscape of e-commerce, where the efficiency and precision of warehousing operations hold paramount importance for an enterprise's competitiveness, this research provides practical utility. The findings stand to benefit warehouse managers in the strategic adoption of automated material handling systems, addressing the critical needs for efficiency and accuracy in contemporary warehousing operations.
