ABSTRACT
The utility of Analytical studies while admired by the academicians is often questioned in practice. Managers and executives do not see the utility of several mathematical models and ignore the application of analytical and artificial intelligent projects. In this presentation, we explore these problems through an analysis of various phases of problem solving methodology and practical examples. Based on practical experience, guidelines that will enhance the implementation of analytical and/or artificial intelligence models and solutions to solve practical problems are developed. Use of a two tier approach to problem solving is suggested to gain support of the managerial world. We will conclude the presentation with some suggestions for balancing rigor and relevance in doing research in analytics and artificial intelligence.
